Corruption and Retirement: Crisis in Panama

In Panama, justice seems inactive as the government faces pressure from retired workers and the raising of the retirement age. La Chorrera stands out in this crisis, with complaints about the evaluation of prosecutors and control in public administration.

Corruption and Retirement: Crisis in Panama

In Panama, while those responsible continue to evade accountability before the judicial system, in other countries people are being convicted. This contrast generates concern among the population. In this context, it is expected that the new public administration will take decisive measures to control the situation.

One of the concerns lies in the increase of the retirement age, argued by the government as a necessity due to the greater longevity and productivity of people. This decision affects many retirees, generating discontent among the population.

In La Chorrera, a scandal has arisen where it is revealed that a superior ordered a performance evaluation of a prosecutor to be changed, which has triggered criticism about transparency in institutions. The lack of integrity and morality in such decisions undermines trust in authorities.

On the other hand, there has been reported discontent in FAECOD, where there is alleged persecution of administrators who do not support the dean. These episodes of internal conflict create uncertainty and distrust in the management of the institution.

Society demands concrete measures in response to the lack of action from the authorities. In this regard, it is suggested to reactivate the "Battalions of Dignity" to face adverse situations. The need for leadership and commitment becomes essential in times of crisis and political challenges.

Furthermore, there is a proposal to follow the example of historical figures such as General Torrijos, who managed to gain national and international support in critical situations. The lack of diligence and action on the part of the authorities currently calls into question their capacity for leadership and management.

Amidst this scenario, it is expected that concrete measures will be taken to address issues of corruption, inefficiency, and lack of transparency in public institutions. Accountability and responsible management are fundamental to strengthening citizens' trust in the authorities.
